Successful local connection referral / main duty owed by other authority / 2nd notification to applicant

A letter for notifying a homeless applicant when:

  • their case has been referred to another council (under section 198(1) of the Housing Act 1996)
  • the other council has accepted the referral (and as a result they owe the applicant the main housing duty), and
  • you are withdrawing the applicant's current temporary accommodation which you are providing.

Use this letter when you would otherwise (but for the referral) owe the applicant the main housing duty (i.e. the referral has been made under section 198(1) of the Housing Act 1996).

A different letter should be used if the applicant would otherwise be owed the s.189B(2) 'relief' duty (i.e. the referral is being made under section 198(A1)).
