Reminding a private landlord they must protect tenancy deposit money paid by council, and serve a prescribed information notice, as the deadline approaches

Once the homeless team has paid a tenancy deposit to a private landlord to secure an assured shorthold tenancy, the landlord must protect the deposit, and serve a notice on the tenant and the council which contains prescribed information.

Use this letter where:

  • The 30-day period for compliance is due to expire shortly.
  • It appears the landlord has not yet protected the deposit or served the prescribed information notice.

The letter:

  • Reminds the landlord of their obligations, and
  • Warns of the consequences of non-compliance.
