Homeless assessment - homeless and reason to believe applicant may have a priority need / s.189B relief duty and s.188 interim accommodation duty owed

A form for notifying a homeless applicant of how you've assessed their case under section 189A of the Housing Act 1996 when:

  • conducting the initial assessment (as opposed to reviewing the assessment - separate letters and forms are available for this)
  • deciding the applicant is homeless and owed the s.189B(2) relief duty, and
  • deciding the applicant is owed the s.188 interim accommodation duty (because there is reason to believe they may have a priority need).

The form includes spaces for confirming:

  • what kind of housing the applicant needs, and
  • whether there are any support needs.

This form is designed to be accompanied by a covering letter and housing plan, which are available separately.
