Homeless decision - not homeless or threatened with homelessness

A letter for notifying a homeless applicant that you are satisfied they are:

  • eligible for help (on immigration and nationality grounds)
  • but neither homeless or threatened with homelessness.

In other words you haven't proceeded to the s.189A assessment (because you're not satisfied the applicant is homeless or threatened with homelessness).

If there's still a threat of homelessness (more than 56 days into the future)...

Often someone will not yet be threatened with homelessness, but it's still likely in due course that they'll become threatened with homelessness.

For example, someone who's received an invalid section 21 notice may still need help and support, because the landlord is likely to re-serve in the near future.

You may therefore need to stress to the applicant when issuing a 'not homeless' decision that you'll still be working with them (on a non-statutory basis).
