Notifying homeless applicant previous local connection referral no longer being pursued / section 73 homeless relief duty now owed (2nd local connection notification)

Use this template letter to:

  • notify a homeless applicant that you're no longer seeking to refer their case to another local authority on local connection grounds;
  • inform the applicant that, as a result, you owe them a duty to secure temporary accommodation and a duty to help them find housing (under sections 68 and 73 of the Housing (Wales) Act 2014);
  • confirm the steps the applicant need to take;
  • confirm the likely consequences if they don't co-operate with the council;
  • confirm the ways in which the duties may end.

Note: this letter assumes that the applicant was previously notified that you were seeking to refer their case to another local authority on local connection grounds.
