Use this letter to offer accommodation from the housing register (social housing waiting list) when you also want to end the section 73 duty (the duty to help someone who is homeless to secure accommodation).

This letter:

• assumes the property is ready to let;
• has spaces for including details about the property and the tenancy, e.g. the rent, the identity of landlord, tenancy start date;
• gives the applicant a deadline by which they must contact you;
• explains the likely consequences - for the homelessness duty - if the applicant accepts or refuses the offer of tenancy;
• briefly sets out the matters the council has taken into account when deciding the accommodation is suitable for the applicant;
• informs the applicant of their statutory right to request a review.
