Request for information about housing application & request for copy of housing file records

Use this letter when assisting a client who has applied for an allocation of social housing, to request information to which they are entitled under section 166A(9) of the Housing Act 1996.

The letter also asks for a copy of the client's housing file records, under the Data Protection Act 2018.

The letter can also be used if - in addition to applying for an allocation of housing - your client has applied for homelessness assistance and you wish to also obtain the homelessness records.

You may also wish to request a full copy of the council's housing allocation scheme. If so, please refer to the separate letter (see 'Related Documents' below).
