Homeless assessment - threatened with homelessness / valid s.21 notice expired / but reasonable to continue to occupy

A form for notifying a homeless applicant of how you've assessed their case under section 189A of the Housing Act 1996 when:

  • conducting the initial assessment (as opposed to reviewing the assessment - separate letters and forms are available for this)
  • deciding the applicant is threatened with homelessness and owed the s.195 prevention duty
  • a valid section 21 notice has expired, and
  • you've decided it is reasonable for the applicant to continue occupying the accommodation.

The form includes spaces for confirming:

  • what kind of housing the applicant needs
  • whether there are any support needs, and
  • your reasons for deciding the applicant is not homeless.

This form is designed to be accompanied by a covering letter and housing plan, which are available separately.
